Kaduna state Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), Mohammed Jibrin has stated that drug peddling in Kaduna state has reached a state of complete impunity.

In a statement, the commander said over 1.251 kilogram of cannabis and cocaine were impounded from drug addicts and peddlers and no less than 30 persons mainly youths between the ages of 25 and 37 years have been arrested for drug related offences in the last one month.

The NDLEA boss decried the high rate at which hard drugs and other control substances are being peddled and hawked with impunity by young people around the state.

Mohammed stated that the agency in collaboration with NAFDAC has embarked on arrest of drug hawkers who use it as a cover up to sell other dangerous hard substances and recently apprehended three brothers involved in the illicit business in Kaduna metropolis at Kagarko Local Government .

He appealed to the Kaduna state government to assist the agency with logistics to enable it carry out its duties effectively.
