From Uche Nnorom, Damaturu

There were reports of gunshots heard in parts of Damaturu, the Yobe state capital as we were about to go press last night.
Details were sketchy as most residents hid in their houses since the city is under curfew.
However, when contacted by our correspondent, the JTF spokesman, Captain Eli Lazarus, noted that the gunshots were suspected to have come from the Zango area of Damaturu.
Zango area houses prostitutes and its Nasarawa section was at a time regarded as “very dangerous” because it was notorious for insurgent activities.
