Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta has approved N1.3 billion for the construction of 10 roads on both sides of Asaba-Benin Expressway in Asaba.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner for Information, Mr Chike Ogeah, announced this when he briefed newsmen in Asaba on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The News Agency of Nigeria reports the governor gave the approval at the State Executive Council Meeting of Aug. 16.<\/p>\n

He added that 25 per cent of the contract sum had been released to the contractors.<\/p>\n

Ogeah also said the governor approvrf N1.6 billion for the construction of access roads to the new Government Hospital from Okpanam Road to Anwai Road.<\/p>\n

He explained that a majority of the approvals followed the request of the Ministry of Works.<\/p>\n

Ogeah said the approvals also included the rehabilitation of Asaba-Okpanam road for the sum of N1.4 billion.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the government had given approval for the dualisation of Okumagba Avenue – Deco Road in Warri at a reviewed contract sum of N2.8 billion from N1.7 billion.<\/p>\n

“The request by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the construction of four feed mills in the state has been approved for N150 million, in addition to the N399.4 million earlier approved.<\/p>\n

“Governor also approved the review of payment of salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff of Delta Steel Company (DSC) Technical High School, Ovwian, as requested by the Ministry of Education\u2019\u2019, Ogeah said.<\/p>\n
