Commercial activities were partially paralysed yesterday in Ikorodu area of Lagos State as angry youths clashed with policemen following the alleged killing of a motorcyclist by a policeman identified as Haruna.<\/p>\n

According to eyewitnesses, the fracas started on Tuesday when some policemen allegedly shot sporadically at commercial motorcyclists who were protesting seizure of their motorcycles at Ladega, Ikorodu, leaving one Lekan popularly called \u201cIfa\u201d dead and many others injured.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the incident, Chairman, Motorcycle Operators Association of Lagos State, Ikorodu Branch, Mr. Kayode Jimoh, said the incident occurred around 2.30pm.<\/p>\n

Jimoh said: \u201cAround 2.30pm, four policemen attached to Rapid Response Squad (RRS) came in a white Toyota Hilux van and parked around Ladega junction. The police driver remained inside the van while three policemen, identified as Haruna, Ayodele and Ismaila, alighted from the vehicle.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe policemen were trying to seize Lekan\u2019s motorcycle, but he resisted. Haruna suddenly cocked his rifle and opened fire, killing him on the spot. The bullet also injured a pregnant woman who was close by on her arm.\u201d<\/p>\n
