After eight months of painstaking planning and preparation, the management of Scoales Music, headed by Mr. Scott Oritsejemineyin Igbene and Too Much Music are set to unite Afrobeat meastro, Femi Kuti and hip hop super star, 2face Idibia, this Sunday in a live show tagged: 2 Kings Concert.

Slated for Eko Hotels and Suites, in Victoria Island, Lagos, the show will start at 5.00 p.m. with a red carpet reception, prior to the main event.

2 Kings Concert, which is expected to metamorphose into a periodical event parading stars of different genres of music, is being positioned as launch pad for Music Against Hunger, MAH, a charity initiative focused on eliminating hunger, using music celebrities. According to organisers, MAH will create a volunteer platform for music icons to encourage the youth to pursue personal excellence and use their capacities for the sake of others, by promoting a life of service, dedicated to creating a hunger-free nation with harmony in all aspects of life.

In an exclusive interview with Friday Flavour, Mr. Igbene stressed that ‘Music Against Hunger’ was a special part of the concert, owing to its transformational role. “This concert is more of a charity show which is meant to kick-start ‘Music Against Hunger’ initiative, so we need the support of everyone on this”.

Igbene also reassured that this wouldn’t be a one-off idea: “It’s going to be an annual event. There will be variations of queens, princes and kings, so expect three concerts from us in the next 12 months”.

The assumption is to think that securing performance commitment from Femi Kuti and 2face would be a herculean task, Igbene disproves this: “Getting them on board was not that much of a task, but getting a date where all parties involved were available was, on the other hand, very challenging”. According to the organiser, lthough the concert is gulping as much as N70m, much of that sum has come from personal investments rather than from corporate sponsorship.

“The response has not been encouraging. However, this has not deterred us as we have practically done everything with monies we can garner from friends and family as well as personal savings. The show must go on, no matter what. Let’s make this a huge success as this is the first time two icons –Femi Kuti and 2Face, will be sharing one stage in a show strictly designed for the duo”.

Of course, the organisers are banking on the huge pedigree of the two big acts, aside other comedians and musicians who would be spicing up the evening, to make the concert a resounding success story.

Femi Kuti, a World Music Award winner and scion of the Fela music dynasty is well-known in the international music scene, having been nominated thrice for the prestigious Grammy Awards since his career kicked off in 1988. 2Face Idibia, also has a rosy relationship with Nigerian music fans having recorded a string of hits since he went solo in 2004, and garnering for himself awards such as: Channel O Music Awards, BET Award, MTV Europe Music Award and MTV Africa Music Award.

Although this is Scoale Music’s first major concert, the company has been into entertainment since 2008, when it was incorporated to sign up, manage and finance music projects and events.
