Acting Director General of Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA) Alhaji Musa Mayaki has said that the organisation has so far digitalized 32 stations representing states and capital ahead of the federal government date line of switching from analogues television broadcasting to digital terrestrial television.
He promised that stations left to be digitalized were not more than eight which will be completed by the end of this year or early next year.
Speaking to newsmen at the third anniversary of NTA \u2013STARTIMES anniversary held yesterday in Abuja, Mayaki said NTA is moving fast ahead of the federal government digital date line and would digitalized all stations on or before June 24 next year, adding that the whole process will be completed eight months ahead of the time given by the federal government to switch over from analogues to digital terrestrial broadcasting.
According to him, while digitization was on course, the fact remains that frequency are not enough for signal transmission of the television stations, adding that, frequency has continued to be on demand for the stations to work effectively.
He explained that at the moment the stations were using one frequency to 25 channels instead of one frequency to 20 channels, a development that made signal viewing pictures to be fluctuating with poor transmission signal.
The DG stated that the demand for more programmes and channels on NTA Network informed the decision to collaborate Star times on digital network which will provide multiple channels at a low cost.
He said the partnership with star time television has been very cordial and effective as many channels are giving to consumers at a low cost on a digital arena.
Earlier, the Director of Star Times Nigeria Mr. Maxwell loko said that the anniversary was to prove their competences and effectiveness in the digital market economy, affirming that Star Times can now be viewed on mobile television and handset on all the channels at a very cheap cost.<\/p>\n
