Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has deflected rumours of a clash with Malawi coach Tom Sainfelt, over an alleged racial comment.
Keshi played down the supposed feud by insisting that he meant any harm, other than defending Nigerian interests.

“I have nothing against Sainflet, he was in Nigeria recently and we shook hands and had a few things we discussed.” Keshi stated.

He however lamented Sainflets referral to Nigeria as being unsafe.

“I just was very unhappy that a man who last year was prepared to work for and in Nigeria with a four year contract can all of a sudden start to describe the place as ‘unsafe’ so am not having that” Keshi said.

Saintflet was announced as Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation and was all but set to commence duties when the Nigerian Sports minister who felt that it was better to appoint a Nigerian scuttled the appointment.

The Flames manager, had promised to report Keshi to FIFA over his utterance which described the Belgian as “a white man who should go back to his country”, but Keshi has reacted, insisting that he was merely just standing up for his country.

The Malawian team will visit Nigeria on the 7th of September in a final group qualifier billed for Calabar.
