The much awaited reconciliation moves in the troubled Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, and the appointment of Governor Seriake Dickson,of Bayelsa State ,may be dead on arrival as the pro-Governor Chibuike Amaechi group is not comfortable with his appointment.

This is because of Dickson’s role in the Nigerian Governors Forum,NGF debacle.

Expressing this reservation is Tony Okocha, the Chief of Staff to Governor Amaechi.

Seriake Dickson: neutrality in doubt

He said Governor Dickson participated in the Governors Forum election where Amaechi defeated Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state with 19 to 16 votes but the Presidency backed Jang.

Okocha queried why PDP could not prominent members of the party who were not active participants in the crisis rocking the NGF.

Okocha who reacted on behalf of the Governor wondered why the Party must pick Dickson who opposes Amaechi and who comes from the same state as the President, to head such an important committee if the party wants genuine reconciliation.

Amaechi who is out of the country recently told the Financial Times of London that President Jonathan and his Wife Patience were bent on removing him as Governor and so will allow “authoritarianism and impunity” in everything to kick him out because of the belief that whoever is the NGF chairman will have big influence on the outcome of the 2015 Presidential elections.
