The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mr. George Uriesi, will be awarded the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) award by President Goodluck Jonathan for his contributions to the development of the country.
The event which will take place on Thursday August 15 in Abuja, will also witness the conferment of the award to other notable Nigerians who have made contributions to the development of the country, in their various fields of endeavour.
A statement by the FAAN General Manager, Corporate Communications Yakubu Dati notes that “Mr. Uriesi is being recognized, with this award, because of the significant improvement he has brought into the management of Nigerian airports since his appointment as the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria in October 2011.
“His unique management style, which has given the staff of the Authority unprecedented sense of belonging to the Authority, has enhanced service delivery at all airports managed by FAAN.
“This is aside from his transparent commitment to the implementation of Government’s Transformation Agenda in the aviation industry, including infrastructural development, through the Airport Remodelling Project and other new policies such as Aerotropolis and perishable cargo export, through designated cargo airports in the country” the statement also reads.
