Anambra Decides 2017: Obiano In Early Lead As INEC Announces Results

SAN FRANCISCO, November 19, (THEWILL) – Incumbent Governor Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is leading as the results from the Anambra State governorship election is being announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Although, 37 candidates and political parties are vying for the number one seat in the state, which includes 5 women for governorship and 8 vying for the office of Deputy Governor, returns from the results so far show that Obiano is the leading candidates.
The election took place in all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state which are: Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, Ogbaru, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Awka North, Awka South, Anaocha, Dunukofia, Idemili North, Idemili South, Njikoka, Aguata, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, Orumba South.
INEC says Anambra has a total of 2,158,171 registered voters; 117 Registration Area Centres (RACs), 4,608 polling units (Pus) and 731 voting points (VPs) in the 326 wards in the state.

Valid votes – 13,438
Rejected votes – 734
Total votes cast -14,172
